Florida, with more than 21.5 million inhabitants, continues its vaccination plan in anticipation of large quantities of the drug. “Our priority, as we receive more vaccinations, are people over 65, health workers and nursing home care staff,” said Governor Ron DeSantis about the vaccination plan in the state.

Batches of vaccines have been sent to the 67 counties that make up the state’s jurisdiction, taking into account the needs and the incidence of coronavirus cases, the governor reported, mentioned Las Americas newspaper.
DeSantis assured that “as we receive more vaccines we will expand the immunization plan to other sectors of society”, such as law enforcement officers, teachers and other essential workers until reaching the rest of the population.
There is no indication when the vaccination plan for those under 65 will start.
Miami-Dade County, the most affected in the state, would have received, as of Sunday, January 17, some 115,982 doses, although the exact number of vaccines applied is unknown. Broward and Palm Beach would have received 90,666 and 70,500 respectively.
Officials in Miami-Dade, where the incidence of Covid-19 is higher, appeal to the state government to obtain greater quantities of the precious drug. “We have asked for more, three or four times the amount we are receiving,” said County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava.
