More than a million New Yorkers voted early

“It takes a long time to decide, it’s very difficult these days who to vote for.”

Stephanie Ramos was one of thousands of New Yorkers who voted early.

Early voting in the city ended on Sunday, and according to the election board report, more than a million New Yorkers voted in the five boroughs.

Brooklyn County registered more than 345 thousand votes, Queens County about 255 thousand 102 votes, in Manhattan more than 282 thousand votes, and in the Bronx some 113,955 were registered and in Staten Island more than 91 thousand.

In addition to electing president, senate and congressional seats, New Yorkers will also have the opportunity to vote on six ballot measures.

One is that it would require additional public notice and more time before the City Council votes on laws regarding public safety operations in the Police, Corrections or Fire Departments.

Some Far Rockaway residents have plenty of reasons to vote.

“For the schools, good for the safety of the children and all that. As I have two at school that is very important. Yes, you have to choose well,” said Ashley Amaya.

But Reina Linares moved from Long Island a few years ago and didn’t register in time to vote in Far Rockaway.

“Wrong, because I would have wanted to vote, yes, but we will see, it will be another time. Yes, because I wasn’t here at the time I needed to register,” said Reina.

“It’s important to vote in these elections because we need change in this country,” said Raisa Abreu.

The polls will be open on Tuesday, the day of the general elections, from six in the morning to nine at night.
