More than a hundred people at a demonstration against corona measures in The Hague NOW

One hundred to two hundred people demonstrated against the corona measures in The Hague on Tuesday. According to the municipality, it was a “wrongful demonstration” because it was not announced.

The protesters carried banners that read “Stop the lockdown” and “Life dies”. They also accused the cabinet of creating fear. Opponents of the new 5G network and vaccinations also joined the protest.

The municipality of The Hague announced after consultation that it was a “wrongful demonstration”, but at that time many people had already left. The last demonstrators were led by agents of the Square just before 2 p.m.

Although pictures show that not all protesters kept 1.5 meters away from others, the police did not issue any fines. Nor have any arrests been made.

No clear initiator of demonstration

Signals were already issued on social media that a demonstration would be held. “As a result of this, we tried to contact these organizations last weekend, but that did not work,” said a spokesman for the municipality.

It is therefore not clear who called for the manifestation. “If that had happened, we could have made clear agreements about how – with due regard to the corona measures – it would have been possible to demonstrate. But that has not happened now.”
