There are still 530 corona patients in the nursing wards. That is 86 fewer than on Tuesday. The number of corona patients in intensive care units fell for the seventeenth consecutive day. Intensivists now have 304 people with corona under their care, seventeen fewer than on Tuesday.
Hospitals have been emptying rapidly in recent weeks. Exactly one month ago, on May 9, they treated 2,435 corona patients. That means that 1601 beds have become available.
The depopulation also means that doctors and nurses can be put to work in other departments to help with regular care. There are now 531 people in intensive care with other conditions.
The fact that the number of corona patients is falling so quickly is mainly because fewer and fewer people need to be hospitalized because of corona. In the past 24 hours, 55 new corona patients ended up in a nursing ward or intensive care unit. In the past seven days, hospitals have admitted 467 corona patients. That’s the lowest number since the National Coordination Center for Patient Distribution (LCPS) began sharing that data in October.
