In the event that drugs were found in rice containers at the Suriname port on Wednesday, more than 95 kilograms of cocaine were removed from the doors of four containers.
The coca, worth almost 5 million euros, was hidden in iron bars in the door beams of the four 20-foot containers, which had loaded the rice that was to be transported to the port of Rotterdam.
The Narcotics Brigade, the Dog Brigade and members of the Port Control Unit carried out the drug arrest at Jules Sedney Harbor after a police dog tested positive for drugs.
The beam of the container door was perforated, after which a white substance tested positive for cocaine was observed.
In total, 16 bars were removed from the container doors with the assistance of the Surinamese firefighters. The case is being examined by the police.
