More than 9,000 mammograms were performed after the acquisition of 29 mammogram machines

The fight against cancer is a priority for the Peruvian government and the Ministry of Health (Minsa) is committed to ensuring that Peruvian women have increasing access to quality early detection services and contributing to reducing breast cancer mortality in the country.

In this regard, the Minsa acquired a total of 29 state-of-the-art mammograms valued at more than 39 million soles, which have been installed and implemented in health facilities in the different regions and are available to Peruvian women for the prevention and timely diagnosis of breast cancer, the most common cancer in the female population of our country.

Since these mammograms began operating, a total of 9,314 patients have been treated, which has had a positive impact on the early detection and timely treatment of breast cancer.

These teams are distributed in the regions of Lambayeque, Loreto, Tacna, Cajamarca, Apurimac, Ucayali, Huancavelica, San Martin, Ancash, Madre de Dios, Junin, Ayacucho, Cusco, Pasco, Tumbes, Lima region and Callao.

The Ministry of Health stressed that for the first time, state-of-the-art mammograms are being acquired for the establishment of the first level of care as a public health measure that supports early screening for breast cancer.

During her speech on July 28, President Dina Boluarte highlighted that one of the priorities of her government is the fight against cancerfor which the acquisition of equipment such as mammograms, endoscopy towers, ultrasound machines and pathology equipment will continue in order to strengthen prevention, early diagnosis and cancer control.

The implementation of these mammograms represents a fundamental step in the strategy for the prevention and control of breast cancer. Early detection through regular mammograms is essential to improve the prognosis and survival of patients with breast cancer.
