Dr. Raji Tawadros, Director of the Health Affairs Directorate in Qena, confirmed that the Maternal and Fetal Health Initiative has succeeded in reaching more than 8,000 pregnant women so far.
“Tawadros” stated in a statement on Sunday that the initiative aims to detect pregnant women from the first day of pregnancy until birth, with the aim of early detection of many diseases that are transmitted from the mother to the fetus, the most important of which are HIV, hepatitis B and syphilis. .
He added that the medical team trained to detect women is obligated to follow all means of protection and combat infection while examining women.
Dr. Sumaya Hassan Mohamed, Director of the Maternal and Child Care Department, stated that the initiative is not limited to detecting these diseases only, but also includes detection of sugar and pressure for pregnant women, as well as awareness and counseling, stressing that the initiative takes place in 150 health units distributed at the governorate level.
