On October 14, the vaccination campaign against influenza and Covid-19 will begin in all target population groups. Two weeks before, on the 1st, it will begin with institutionalized people and other priority population groups, such as children between 6 and 59 months and pregnant women. The territorial delegate of the Junta de Castilla y León, José Antonio Rubio, explained the details yesterday while encouraging the people of Palencia to get vaccinated and stressed that influenza and Covid “can cause serious health problems in those patients who have a significant underlying pathology.” “The vaccine is fast. The Junta, through the Management and the Health Service, makes it easy for people to get vaccinated without any obstacles. The facilities are maximum,” he said.
Rubio explained that the plan is ready. In this regard, he commented on the campaign that will begin in the residences on October 3, vaccination will be carried out in Santiago Amón, La Julia, Valdeolmillos and Reina Isabel, and from there, they will be carried out in the different ones of the capital to end on the 11th in San Antonio, San Antonio de Padua and Puente de Hierro.
Palencia is to receive 49,120 doses for influenza immunization. In this campaign, as a novelty, the adjuvanted vaccine will be used in the population aged 60 years or older (65 in previous seasons).
The vaccine to be administered against Covid-19 in the 2024-2025 campaign is monovalent against two subvariants of the Omicron strain. Palencia will receive a total of 25,920 doses.
In the fall of 2024, the RSV immunization campaign will also be carried out, in which, after the update of the Vaccination and Immunization Schedule for Life in Castilla y León, the drug Nirsevimab is incorporated, which provides immunity against the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), whose infection produces what is commonly known as bronchiolitis.
The Junta has allocated more than 75,000 doses to Palencia to combat influenza, Covid-19 and bronchiolitis.
The vaccination appointment can be requested through the usual channels: the Sacyl Conecta app, by phone or in person at the health center and on the Castilla y León Health website.
Connection between technical block and hospitalization
The territorial delegate of the Junta de Castilla y León, José Antonio Rubio, stressed yesterday that the hospital works “continue at their pace”, although he explained that “they are studying some problems that have arisen” and that it is a “complex” work, which “requires a connection between the technical block and the hospitalisation block, in which a warehouse where all the services are located must be demolished”. “The possibilities of connection are being studied”, he stressed. “The works may go a little slower or be dedicated to other actions, but as soon as the engineering department has technically solved these issues, they will continue at the usual pace, which is also on schedule and according to conversations with the company, there are no problems of possible delays”, he asserted. “There was a problem with a floor, which has been solved, and it is that the land where there were diesel tanks had to be treated”, he commented. He also said that the radiotherapy works are continuing their course and expressed his confidence that the works will be finished within the deadline they have set.
