The case of Solsky
On April 23, NABU detectives exposed a scheme to seize state lands in the Sumy region with a total area of about 2.5 thousand hectares and prevented an attempt to seize another 3.3 thousand hectares.
The prosecutor informed the former chairman of the agrarian committee of the Verkhovna Rada – current minister Mykola Solsky about the suspicion of land grabbing.
Solsky himself stated that the events related to his case relate to the period when he was still a lawyer, not a minister. The seven-year-old circumstances relate to a dispute between state-owned enterprises and individuals, in particular ATO soldiers, over land that was given to the latter in possession in accordance with the law.
On April 25, Solsky submitted his resignation from the post of Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food.
Earlier today, on April 26, the High Anti-Corruption Court ordered Solsky to be remanded in custody. The term of the preventive measure is 60 days, that is, until June 24 inclusive. As an alternative, the investigating judge set bail for the suspect in the amount of UAH 75,700,000. The suspect was taken into custody at the courthouse.
