Also today, on Saturday, problems resurfaced with the high-speed trains in France. A fire south of Valence has severely disrupted TGV traffic, with delays of up to three hours. The fire started near the high-speed line connecting Lyon to the Mediterranean Sea.
“The TGVs were immediately diverted to the former line, causing delays of 45 to 60 minutes. But the three trains already on the line will be delayed by two to three hours,” said a spokesman. French railways expect 1 million passengers on TGV and Intercity trains this weekend, one of the busiest times of the year.
