PLAN REACTS

The institution recalled that the crisis situation has caused many Spanish households to experience difficulties in meeting their most basic needs, especially housing, gas, electricity, food and transport.

Currently, 27.8 percent of the population is at risk of poverty or exclusion in Spain, according to the Arope index, a percentage that rises to 77.8 percent among the population served by the Red Cross.

Faced with this situation, the institution launched an emergency appeal within the framework of the React Plan. The actions of the Red Cross in it are divided between the different needs that people require and the needy with inflation, which, in the case of housing, water and electricity exceeds 900 euros.

Thus, together with food and transport, they constitute the main expenses that groups of people in vulnerable situations have difficulties facing, the Red Cross highlighted in a press release.

In the face of urgent basic needs, the Red Cross Plan Reacts helps provide immediate coverage with the delivery of goods and financial aid, promotes awareness of measures that reduce the level of need or expand the resources of each person to improve their situation.

In addition, it promotes the autonomy of people, so that they lead their own process of change and seeks to be an immediate response with a vocation for lasting transformation, implementing actions that consolidate the changes.
