More than 61,000 Salvadorans receive the third vaccine against covid-19

More than 61,000 people in El Salvador received a third dose of the covid-19 vaccine, according to official figures updated this Saturday.

The government site covid19.gob.sv reports the application of 61,132 third doses, while the first doses amounted to 4,107,518 and the second to 3,416,168.

With these data, the Salvadoran health system inoculated 7,584,818 doses of various formulas against covid-19.

Health personnel began last Sunday to apply the third dose of the anticovid vaccine to people over 60 years of age, health workers, police officers, soldiers, teachers and firefighters.

Drug stores, pharmacies, laboratories, people with chronic illnesses and lifeguards are also authorized to receive a third dose.

EL SALVADOR WITH 17 DEATHS IN ONE DAY

The aforementioned portal of the Ministry of Health reported that 17 people died on Friday, one of the highest numbers of people killed by covid-19 in a single day since the pandemic began in the country.

According to local press reports, “this October 1 the record number of the pandemic is reported” with the 17 deaths.

El Salvador registers 104,348 official cases of covid-19, of which 3,262 died, 14,235 remain active and 86,851 have recovered.

Currently there are 783 people who are in serious condition and 373 in critical condition.

On September 18, daily cases of coronavirus in El Salvador reached their highest point in 2021 with 341 infections.

It was on July 4 that the Minister of Health, Francisco Alabí, warned that the country registers an increase in official cases of covid-19.
