In Myanmar protests, more than 550 people have been killed by the military since the coup on Feb. 1, the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners said. Among them are 46 children.
The human rights organization says that about 2,750 people have been imprisoned or punished.
At the beginning of the weekly protests, tens of thousands of people gathered in large cities. Meanwhile, there are smaller protests and people gather for vigils in the evenings.
Today, five more people were shot by security forces, local media report. It happened in three different places.
“They started firing non-stop,” a protester from Monywa town in the middle of the country told Reuters news agency. “People backed away and quickly put up barriers, but a bullet hit someone in the head in front of me. He died on the spot.”

Authorities have ordered ISPs to shut down wireless broadband, preventing users from accessing cellular networks and Wi-Fi.
Arrest warrants have also been issued for 18 well-known Myanmarese, including influencers and journalists. They are known as opponents of the military regime. They can be jailed for up to three years.
