This Sunday, October 6, andl La Sabana Metropolitan Park will be filled with solidarity with the AVON Run and Walk Every Step is for You! 2024, an event that seeks to raise funds for the fight against breast cancer. The activity will benefit FUNDESO, the National Breast Cancer Solidarity Foundationwhich is dedicated to educating about early detection, rehabilitating patients and raising awareness about this disease.

The funds raised by registration and the sale of T-shirts for the Walk will go to FUNDESO.”

Although the walk is free, those who wish to support can purchase the event t-shirt. “1 in 8 women will face breast cancer at some point in their lives, so this fight concerns us all.”
The Race, endorsed by the Costa Rican Athletics Federation (FECOA) and the Costa Rican Institute of Sports and Recreation (ICODER), will start at 6:00 am with two distances: 5K and 10K. The Walk will begin at 7:00 am, walking the perimeter of the park. Both activities will have their starting and finishing point on the north side of the National Stadium.
This year we have 2,300 runners registered, three hundred more than the previous year. We estimate the participation of at least 3,000 walkers. We thank the running community and the companies that have joined this cause to save lives. We are also expecting hundreds of people at the Walk, who have purchased the event t-shirt.”
Activities for the whole family
The event It will not only focus on sports, but will offer a day full of activities for all ages. From 6:00 am, participants will be able to enjoy exercise classes, recovery and cardio dance sessions, as well as free mammogram giveaways and checkups. In addition, there will be the BAC Pymes Market, where entrepreneurial women will offer their products.
The mobile mammography machine at the Metropolitan Hospital, AVON and other companies will be available for free exams in the morning.
During the event, we will assign mammograms through dynamics, so that the beneficiaries can have their test done at the mammogram, a fundamental step in early detection.”
