More than 43 drugs entered social security

The authorities of Honduran Social Security Institute (IHSS) reported that more than 43 drugs have entered the central warehouse and are being counted for immediate distribution to the health institution’s hospitals and clinics.

In early August, the IHSS announced that it had been awarded the emergency purchase of medicines for 110 pharmaceutical products, which would increase the level of supply at pharmacy counters.

“According to the head of the Central Warehouse, the work has intensified, since there are days in which we simultaneously receive both the drugs from the UNOPS process and the emergency purchase made by the Social Security”, The authorities indicated.

They added that appointments with various suppliers are already scheduled for the next few days, for the receipt of more medicines arriving from abroad.

the area of Pharmacy of the National Health Directorate revealed that the emergency purchase was aimed at drugs that had been declared abandoned or failed in previous bidding procedures, but are already entering after a long time without them.

“Receiving pharmaceuticals is a priority once suppliers have scheduled delivery appointments, where they count, register, notify and deliver the drugs to the Health establishments. Indeed, we are doing the whole process in record time so that the beneficiary can already have access to these medicines, ”they said.

They also pointed out that the emergency purchase made by the technical team and Administrative IHSSwas accompanied by social observers who attest to the transparency and agility with which the process was developed.
