On March 30, the Turkish airline Southwind Airlines canceled a flight from Istanbul to Minsk, due to which more than 40 Belarusian tourists were unable to return home. Earlier it became known that the EU banned the carrier from flying through its territory.

Po information ONT state television channel, more than 40 people went to the hotel to wait for information from the travel company.

The media noted that Southwind Airlines promised that they should fly to Belarus on March 31 at 20:00. It is unknown which route.

Earlier, Telegraf.news wrote that the European Union banned the Turkish airline Southwind Airlines from flying through Europe, Turizm Guncel reported. They cited the company’s “connections” with Russia as the reason.

Let us remind you that at the end of December 2023, Southwind Airlines launched direct flights from Istanbul to Minsk. The Turkish carrier said the main advantage would be shorter travel times – about three hours. Belavia is forced to fly from Minsk to Istanbul through the territory of Russia, Azerbaijan and Georgia, which is why the travel time exceeds 5 hours.
