More than 3,500 new contaminations and 56 deaths recorded in Lebanon

Lebanon has recorded 56 deaths and 3,523 new Covid-19 contaminations, according to the daily report from the Ministry of Health published on Saturday evening. These figures increase to 415,362 cases, 5,334 deaths and 325,818 recoveries since the onset of the pandemic in the country in February 2020. Among the cases still active, 2,363 patients are hospitalized, including 945 in intensive care. the number of tests carried out in the last 14 days is 17.4%.

These statistics remain high in the country, which entered the third phase of its gradual deconfinement last Monday. Several administrations, manual trades workshops and hairdressing salons were able to reopen their doors. It comes a week after the reopening of shops and shopping centers. All the measures established during the previous deconfinement phases, however, remain in force. They provide in particular for obtaining authorizations on the Impact platform for certain trips, in particular to go to places considered “at risk” such as supermarkets, banks and shopping centers. The curfew remains in effect from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Cafes and restaurants will remain closed until further notice. On the other hand, in accordance with the arrangements made previously, home delivery services are maintained 24 hours a day.

In this context, the national monitoring committee for measures to combat the spread of the coronavirus had decided on Friday to form a working team made up of committee experts as well as representatives of the catering sector and the Casino du Liban. This team will have to work on a “secure” reopening mechanism for this sector.
