More than 341 thousand people over 5 years of age have not yet started their vaccination schedule against COVID-19 • Weekly University

According to the CCSS, there are 135,000 children between the ages of 5 and 11, and 205,000 people over 12 years of age.

Some 341,216 people over the age of 5 have not yet started their vaccination schedule against COVID-19. This was reported by the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) on Friday.

According to the institution, there are 135,000 children between the ages of 5 and 11, and 205,000 people over 12 years of age.

As for minors between the ages of 5 and 11, 66 thousand have the second dose pending, and 50,598 the third. With these records, vaccination coverage against COVID-19 in children between 5 and 11 years of age is 74.2% in first doses, 61.6% in second doses, and 0.6% in third doses.

“Parents and legal guardians of children are the first to ensure that minors have their vaccination schedule up to date. This includes the vaccine against COVID-19, which reduces the risk of suffering from severe complications and the risk of death in the event of suffering from this disease,” commented the CCSS Epidemiological Surveillance doctor, Diana Paniagua, who urged parents to bring their children to vaccinations.

In the case of the population aged 12 and over, 208,000 have the second dose pending and 1,500,908 the third.

Population pending to vaccinate first doses:

5 years to 11 years: 135.322

12 years and over: 205.894

Until July 18, the CCSS vaccinating teams had applied a total of 11,504,591 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Of these, 4,458,619 correspond to first doses, 4,183,451 to second doses, 2,438,194 to third doses and 424,327 to fourth doses.
