The last month of 2023 saw a record number of migrants attempting to enter the United States illegally, with more than 302,000 of them being encountered by the US Border Patrol (USBP).
According to Fox Newssources at Customs and Border Protection (CBP) confirmed the high number of encounters that occurred last December, which coincided with an increase that has been observed at the end of recent years.
These sources point out that, during Joe Biden’s administration, the number of illegal border crossings has been increasing each year-end, with 179,253 in 2021, 252,315 in 2022, and now with 302,000 in 2023.

Likewise, the aforementioned media points out that the number of migrants detained during the current fiscal year also represents a new record, since 785,000 people have already been detained since the period began on October 1, 2023.
The Republican Party, which has tirelessly criticized Biden, blames this increase on the legal immigration policies that the president has made available to foreigners in recent years, such as the parole humanitarian and the ability to request appointments online with the CBP One app.
The situation on the border represents an obstacle to Biden’s re-election next November, which is why the current administration has begun to look for ways to deal with the immigration crisis that exists on the country’s southern border.
In that sense, the Biden government has begun to make agreements with Mexico, in the hope of decongesting the US southern border a little by increasing land deportations in the Aztec territory.
Likewise, representatives of these nations are expected to meet again in January to carry out new migration talks to deal with the problem, since previous agreements have not had the impact that was expected.
Despite the criticism that the administration receives from its adversaries, who describe Biden’s policy as one of “open borders”, the government’s public discourse remains the same, warning migrants that irregular entry to the US is prohibited, and that there will be consequences for those who try it.
