More than 300 kg of drugs seized on Sonora-Arizona border

Customs and Border Protection Agents (CBP) conducted a series of operations on the border between Arizona y Sonorawhich resulted in the seizure of more than 300 kilograms of various drugs, including fentanyl, methamphetamines, heroin y cocaine.

Regarding this, the director of the port of Nogales, Michael W. Humphries He said that Mexico y USA maintain joint operations to protect communities before the arrival of the drugs to the streets of USA.

“We are committed to keeping our communities safe by detecting and seizing dangerous drugs before they reach the streets of the United States,” Humphries said.

He also explained that the 150 kilograms of methamphetamines were hidden in vehicle compartments and in individual packages, while 100 kilograms of fentanyl, 35 kilograms of heroin and 25 kilograms of cocaine were hidden in goods who were trying to cross the border between Mexico and the United States.

These operations, he said, are carried out jointly between the US authorities and Mexicans to combat drug trafficking in one of the busiest areas and border conflicts.

“We will continue to work to identify new tactics employed by traffickers and ensure that these substances never reach our streets,” he said.

Likewise, he explained that investigations are still ongoing to determine if these seizures are related to some organized criminal group operating on both sides of the border.
