More than 300 Covid-19 tests were performed in the Latvian Optibet Football Super League teams on Thursday, but none of the results were positive, reports the Latvian Football Federation (LFF).

The LFF reports that Covid-19 tests were performed on Thursday by ten club representatives, judges, inspectors, and delegates, but no positive cases have been identified.

The Football Super League championship will return on Saturday after a break from the national teams with five games.

“Jelgava” will host champions “Riga” at home, “Metta” will visit “Daugavpils”, while “Spartaks” of Jurmala will meet “Ventspils” in parallel. Valmiera and Tukums 2000 ″ / TSS, as well as Liepāja and RFS will also host the games.

It has already been reported that in connection with the amendments to the Cabinet of Ministers (CM) regulations on epidemiological safety measures to limit the spread of Covid-19 infection adopted on Tuesday, October 13, the Latvian Football Federation (LFF) has approved the end of the season in most Latvian football leagues and Latvian youth championships.

After the 21st round of games, the first place in the tournament table with 57 points is taken by “Riga”, which is six points ahead of RFS. 36 points are for “Valmiera”, 31 points – for “Ventspils”, 29 points – for “Liepāja” and 28 – for “Spartak”. Next is “Jelgava” with 21 points, but “Daugavpils” and “Metta” have accumulated 16 points each, while Tukums 2000 ″ / TSS has reached eight points.

This season, ten teams will start in the Super League, which is one more than last year and two more than yesterday. Also, this season in the Super League, the legionnaire limit has been raised to eight players. This means that there must be at least three players prepared for the association on the court at the same time. Last year, the limit was five foreign players.

As in many other countries, after the coronavirus break in the regulations of the Premier League championship in the 2020 season, the number of permitted player substitutions has been increased from three to five.

Due to a three-month forced break, three will be played instead of the four planned laps this season.

Last year, “Riga” was crowned Latvian champion, but RFS won its first trophy in the history of the club, which won the national cup.
