More than 200,000 animals culled due to bird flu infections

Bird flu has been diagnosed on two poultry farms. It concerns a broiler farm in Willemstad, North Brabant and the same company in Grootschermer, North Holland.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, it is probably a dangerous and highly contagious variant of bird flu. To prevent spread, all animals on the farms are slaughtered, in total more than 200,000.

Heaviest outbreak

A care farm close to the poultry farm in Grootschermer will now be intensively monitored daily as a precaution. In Willemstad, three other poultry farms in the vicinity of the infected farm are being sampled for bird flu.
