There are more than 2,000 hospitalized with COVID-19 in North Carolina. On Saturday, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services again reported another record day for COVID-19 hospitalizations, with 2,171 currently in hospitals across the state.
This is the fourth day in a row North Carolina has seen the metric grow.

The state saw more than 2,000 in one day for the first time on November 30, and that number has stayed above 2,000 since then.
295 people were admitted to the hospital in the last 24 hours with a confirmed case of COVID-19. 316 people entered in the last 24 hours with a suspected case of COVID-19.
The state’s positive percentage rate is 10.7%. Last Saturday it was 9.2%.
6,018 new cases of COVID-19 were also reported on Saturday, the highest increase in a single day so far since the pandemic began. Thursday’s rise of more than 5,600 was the second-highest ever.
We have a record number of hospitalizations and people in the ICU. I ask all North Carolinians to take personal responsibility for their actions and for stopping the spread of this virus,
said Dr. Mandy Cohen, secretary of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
Always wear a mask when around people you don’t live with, stay away from other people, and wash your hands frequently. We are looking at what other actions we can take as a state to protect North Carolinians and save lives.
49 more deaths were reported Saturday, meaning 5,516 people died from COVID-19 in North Carolina.
