This Sunday they arrived in the country 218 thousand new doses of vaccines against Covid-19. The batch was developed by the AstraZeneca laboratory and Oxford University. Its distribution is part of the Covax mechanism, promoted by the World Health Organization, a public and private association that seeks to equalize global access to the drug, until now very unequal.
The arrival is broadcast live through the official Casa Rosada media. The AstraZeneca-Oxford doses were transported on a Dutch airline KLM plane.
This morning’s shipment was the first of the nine million doses that were assigned to Argentina by Covax. For now, it is expected to receive two million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine in the first half, produced by the South Korean company SK Bioscience.
The health authorities, who carry out the inoculation campaign, 580,000 doses have already been applied of this last vaccine in its version developed in India, named as Covishield.
Adding this delivery together with the doses of Sputnik V, developed in Russia, and the Sinopharm of China, Argentina has more than 5 million to continue with its vaccination campaign.
