FAJAR.CO.ID, BALIKPAPAN- The plan to evict more than 200 Pemaluan residents to build the Indonesian Capital City (IKN) in North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan has been highlighted.
The East Kalimantan Civil Society Coalition or KMS Kaltim rejects the alleged attempts to confiscate land and forcefully demolish residents’ houses.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, March 13 2024, KMS Kaltim highlighted the threat from the IKN Authority to local communities and indigenous communities in the IKN area.
On March 4 2024, the Deputy for Development Control of the Nusantara Capital City Authority issued a letter of invitation for direction regarding violations of development that is not permitted and/or is not in accordance with the IKN Spatial Plan.
Letter Number: 179/DPP/OIKN/III/2024 includes the Invitation for directions regarding Violations of Development that is Unpermitted and/or Not In Accordance with the IKN Spatial Plan.
In the letter, it was stated that based on the identification results of the Joint Team for Controlling Unlicensed Buildings in October 2023, there were buildings that did not comply with the Detailed Spatial Planning Plan (RDTR) for the IKN Development Area.
The Deputy for Development Control of the Archipelago Capital Authority also issued a “First Warning Letter” No. 019/ST I-Trantib-DPP/OIKN/III/2024, which gives residents a period of 7 days to immediately demolish buildings that do not comply with the provisions of the IKN Spatial Planning and statutory regulations.
According to KMS Kaltim, the threat by the IKN Authority to suddenly evict Pemaluan residents under the pretext of developing the capital, is clearly a form of abusive government action.
