More than 200 police officers pay their last tribute to suddenly deceased officer Arie Vermeulen | Inland

Vermeulen suddenly became unwell on Friday 14 January and died shortly afterwards in hospital. The bearded cop cycled through life. This summer he traveled all the way to Sweden, where he was crowned Viking.

A big white beard and white wild hair: that was the familiar face of Vermeulen. For the past two years he worked as a shift manager in Ommelanden-Oost, first in Winschoten and then in Stadskanaal. Before that he was part of the police team in Drenthe for many years. He was an agent for over forty years and he inspired not only his two sons, but also others to do the same work.
