More than 200 Huawei employees educated on Covid-19 from Abidjan

The session was provided by Professor Issiaka Tiembré, Deputy Director of Vaccinology and Operational Coordinator of Vaccination against Covid-19 in Côte d’Ivoire, at the premises of the Chinese group, in Abidjan.

Professor Tiembré wanted to express his satisfaction, downstream of this sequence and praised this great initiative organized by Huawei. According to him, “It is essential that all organizations, including private companies, educate their employees on the challenges of the fight against Covid-19. The latter then become real players in resilience, by making themselves the doorstep -voices of good practices, crucial in the fight against the spread of the disease in Côte d’Ivoire “.

Professor Tiembré warned that “the Coronavirus disease is real”. Today, in Côte d’Ivoire, it is experiencing an upsurge in cases. The disease is increasingly lethal and spreading. This is why we must continue to apply preventive measures.

He argued that “the vaccine is an additional tool which above all makes it possible to avoid serious forms which lead to death, and which mourn families and communities”. Because, by being vaccinated, we protect ourselves against serious forms and we protect our environment.

According to him, “it should be understood that the AstraZeneca vaccine used in Côte d’Ivoire is effective, because already at 70% (performance), it is already good, and above all studies have shown its effectiveness on severe forms in more than 90% of cases, which is huge “.

“It is a vaccine which is effective”, he insisted, before adding that it “is well tolerated since today, in Ivory Coast, (where) we have vaccinated more than 80,000 people and so far there have been no serious side effects.

“What we have had so far are minor events as we observe in any vaccination. So I would like to encourage the workers to adhere massively to the vaccination which will be an additional tool of protection to bring them to be resistant, ”he continued.

Regarding the variants circulating in the region today, he urged the workers, even in the community, to always apply the barrier measures, in particular distancing, washing hands, wearing masks, which could spare them. this disease.

The employees addressed questions to him, which he answered bluntly, while noting that “the vaccine is the safe and effective means of protection against serious diseases”, especially since it allows the body to secrete anti-bodies to deal with germs.

Until then, the adverse effects recorded in Côte d’Ivoire, are among others, dizziness, fatigue, headache, nausea, fever, he said, indicating that “we have very little Mapi ( adverse events following vaccination), there are 215 “of more than 80,000 vaccinated individuals.

Mr. Tiembré observed that even after vaccination, we must always respect the barrier measures, to protect ourselves, but also those around them. Following a question, he noted that anyone who has already had the disease will have to wait six months before being vaccinated.

“The controversies around the vaccine, in my opinion, are not justified, because anyway there is always in life what are called anti-vaccines, which often distill information which is not always verified, fake news, rumors, “he said.

Workers must remember that “in Côte d’Ivoire, vaccination is supervised by regulatory bodies, in particular the Ivorian Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency, by experts, in particular the national committee of pharmacovigilance experts which monitors and analyzes all the effects undesirable so that Ivorians are protected, “he reassured.

During the instruction session on Covid-19, employees from Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Togo, Burkina Faso, Guinea Conakry were connected; the majority of participants being Ivorians and Chinese from the Abidjan office.
