The bidding process will attract companies with experience in the exploration of hydrocarbons in basins with recognized geological complexity. For the fourth time, since the creation of ANPG, the doors to the concession of oil blocks have been opened
The Secretary of State for Oil and Gas, José Barroso, said yesterday, in Luanda, that a total of 22 companies are competing for the onshore 2023 public bidding competition for the exploration of 12 oil blocks in the Baixo basins. Congo and Kwanza.
The evaluation process will run until December this year and, in addition to the exploration of hydrocarbons, the process will stimulate the emergence of small and medium-sized oil companies, promote the incorporation of qualified Angolan labor, as well as fostering technological innovation and good governance practices. Of the 12 oil blocks to be tendered in the public tender, four are located in the Lower Congo onshore basin and eight in the Kwanza onshore basin.
José Barroso, who spoke at the opening ceremony of the bidding process proposals, said that this initiative is another safe step in the exploration and production of oil in onshore areas, attracting companies with proven experience and accumulated knowledge in the exploration of hydrocarbons in basins with recognized geological complexity. Positive results could mitigate the decline in production, increasing exploration activity and discovering new resources, in the government’s view.
“We are fully aware that the journey is still long, but we will remain firm in carrying out our role, which is to serve the Angolan people. To our precious investors, we want to leave our word of honor: we will work together to make the sector increasingly robust and flexible, in a business environment that has already proven to be stable and that guarantees returns for investors”, he said.
