More than 150 cylinders installed in the city of Antananarivo

Jirama has sent more than 150 bottles of water to provide drinking water to the municipalities of Antananarivo.

Antananarivo is currently going through a severe drought, making the supply of drinking water more difficult. According to Jirama, measures are being taken to ensure that all neighborhoods are provided.

The drought had a devastating effect on the Jirama hydroelectric power stations. But the problem is not limited to electricity production. With water becoming increasingly scarce, the capital’s drinking water supply is also at risk. In response to this crisis, Jirama has implemented emergency solutions to reduce the impact of this worrying situation. According to reports, more than 150 bottles of water have been sent in areas that are particularly affected by water shortage. To ensure that these cylinders are regularly filled, around ten tank trucks are moved every day, thanks to close cooperation with the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Sanitation. This campaign aims to guarantee that there will be at least access to water for the most vulnerable populations, according to the definitions.

Ability. Jirama leaders ensure that their activities are not limited to these temporary solutions. Long-term projects are also underway to deal sustainably with water supply problems. Among these initiatives, the company plans to repair a large number of plants that have not been working for several years. Jirama also announced that 35 boreholes were completed, which aimed to strengthen the capital’s water supply. In addition, two new water treatment plants, each capable of treating 50,000 m³ per day, will be built. These projects also include rehabilitating and building pipelines, as well as installing pumps and generators to secure water distribution. Despite the water crisis, these measures are aimed, according to Jirama, to ensure that the residents of Antananarivo will have stable access to water, while trying to improve the existing infrastructure to develop.
