More than 14,000 Ukrainians at schools in Lower Saxony

That’s around 2,000 more than a week ago, as the Ministry of Education announced on Friday. The majority attends a general school, only 490 go to vocational schools.

According to the ministry, 200 additional people have been hired to look after the war refugees, which corresponds to around 42 full-time units. Up to 100 full-time employees are possible. In addition, 290 Ukrainians reported as possible teachers via a portal.

Refugee children and young people from Ukraine who have a right of residence are required to go to school in the federal state. Anyone who is staying in Lower Saxony with a visitor’s visa or without a visa, on the other hand, is not.
