More than 12 billion kwanzas in default on PROPRIV – Jornal OPaís

Privatization Program (PROPRIV) has already yielded more than 599 billion for the State coffers, but defaulted values and adjudication with zero paid, reveal a story still far from complete success

The Privatization Program (PROPRIV) has more than 12 billion kwanzas in default, as shown by the data to which OPAÍS had access. The program that emerged with the aim of reducing State intervention in the economy through business development, has many good intentions but these are hampered, for now, by the 17 projects that are currently in default.

These are projects that have already been sold and therefore have new owners, but these new owners have not yet completed payment. Among the projects, the “Fazenda Cuima” asset stands out, for which the State has not yet received any payment so far, with 2.5 billion kwanzas currently in default, as shown by IGAPE data, referring to PROPRIV.

This list of assets for which the State has not yet received any money includes the Fazenda de Longa and Fazenda Quizenga assets which, together, the State has to receive around 16 billion kwanzas. According to the payment plan presented by PROPRIV, just over 1 billion kwanzas from Fazenda do Longa and another just over 1.5 billion kwanzas from Fazenda Quizenga are already in default.

Inflow of 599.4 billion kwanzas

The list of assets in which the State is interested is the “Entreposto do Dombe Grande”, with 14.6 million kwanzas, but it still has many millions to receive, with 58.5 million kwanzas currently in default. The company “Angola Cabos” appears on the list, an entity for which the State has already received 131 million kwanzas, but is now in default of close to 743 million kwanzas.

Another case that reveals that the good start of the relationship, in terms of payments, is not exactly synonymous with things always going well, has to do with the asset, “Fábrica de Latas”. This, the State awarded for 196.9 million kwanzas, has already received, the data shows, 39.3 million kwanzas, but the majority still has to be received, with more than 157 million kwanzas already in default.

A parenthesis for the InduCabos entity, the electrical cable industry, which despite being considered very profitable, has 900 million kwanzas in default, as indicated by the data to which OPAÍS had access. This is an entity that was awarded for 2.6 billion kwanzas, having received three offers, one of which was for a value below the price previously established by the State, but which, above all, shows that it is indeed an asset interesting.
