More than 1,100 voting passes in Utrecht not delivered, mayor reports | Interior

In thirteen streets in Utrecht, the voting passes for the Provincial Council and the water board have not been delivered. It concerns 1,160 voters who have not received their voting passes. Mayor Sharon Dijksma reports this to the police.

A resident had reported to the municipality on February 20 because he and his neighbors had not received a voting pass. At the request of the municipality, PostNL conducted an investigation into the delivery of voting passes. This shows that one deliverer did not deliver all the mail.

It is not clear from the investigation what happened to the voting passes. “I take the non-delivery of voting passes very seriously”, Dijksma writes in a letter to the council. So she reports to the police.

Because it is not known what happened to the post, it is also being investigated whether there is a data breach.

To ensure that voters receive their voting passes on time, new voting passes will be sent to the streets where they have not been delivered. The voting pass is accompanied by a letter explaining what happened.
