More than 100,000 people, from throughout the National Civil Protection System, guaranteed the success of the Summer 2024 Plan.
The director of Civil Protection, Luis Alonso Amaya, stated that El Salvador has had the safest vacations in recent years; success that has been possible thanks to the coordinated work of the institutions that make up the entire system.
“Around 100,000 people worked on the Summer 2024 Plan; Only the Vice Ministry of Transportation pledged 15,000 human talents, to this we must add the National Civil Police (PNC), the entire Integrated Health System, the Medical Emergency System (SEM), who work 24/7,” he detailed.
One of the main achievements of the Summer 2024 Plan has been the arrest of more than 150 dangerous drivers; people who could have caused more than 150 traffic accidents. The good performance of the institutions managed to reduce accident rates due to drunk drivers, with no fatalities reported during the Easter holiday period.
“I want to congratulate the institutions that are part of the National Civil Protection System that intervened in the identification and arrest of dangerous drivers, which prevented probable incidents,” Amaya emphasized, highlighting the work of each of the collaborators.
Regarding the work of the Lifeguard Unit, during Holy Week they reported 156 water rescues; Of these there have been 72 simple and 84 deep, of which at least 20% were with a high level of complexity and in coordination with other institutions.
The National Civil Protection System will begin this week with a process of analyzing the results in search of improvements for the next holiday period.
