1065 kilos of cocaine were seized in the port of Vlissingen. The drugs had an estimated street value of more than 80 million euros, the Public Prosecution Service reports.

The coke was hidden in a shipment of bananas from Ecuador. That shipment was on its way to Germany. The drugs were destroyed, reports said Broadcasting Zeeland.

Drugs are taken more often in the Zeeland port area. Last month, customs found more than 3,600 kilos of cocaine. According to the Public Prosecution Service, that lot had an estimated street value of over 270 million euros the largest drug seizure in Zeeland from this year. That coke was also hidden among a lot of bananas from Ecuador and was intended for Germany.

Customs took last year almost 60,000 kilos of cocaine were seized at Dutch seaports and airports. That was 9,000 kilos more than in 2022. A lot of cocaine was found, especially in the seaports of Rotterdam and Vlissingen. Anyway, it was right in the first half of 2024 less cocaine detected.
