More than 1,000 gallons of diesel fuel stolen from a gas station in Houston | Univision 45 Houston KXLN

HOUSTON, Texas. – Houston authorities confirmed the theft of more than 1,000 gallons of diesel fuel from a gas station located southwest of the city. The thieves operated discreetly, in broad daylight and in front of customers and managers.

In the three years that this Chevron gasoline outlet at Fuqua Express, located in the 6200 block of Fuqua Street in southwest Houston, has been open, its owners never imagined that such a robbery could occur.

This is how they removed the diesel fuel from the gas station

Jerry Thayil, manager of the establishment, revealed that the thieves first broke a padlock and then connected a hose. Using an extraction pump they took the fuel in a container.

As part of the preliminary investigation, the authorities presume that they had a hatch inside the minivan and that is why no one could see that they were stealing. In all, it took them about 15 minutes to load up on the stolen fuel each day.

The security cameras captured images of the minivan, when it came to commit the robbery. Before, there was a Porsche truck that was parked very close and is believed to be related to the crime.

The authorities continue to investigate this robbery that could continue to occur at other gas stations, since fuel is a highly valuable item these days.

How did they find out that they lost 1,000 gallons of diesel in three days?

The owners of the gas station became aware of the theft when the inventory sensors in the tanks began to report lower amounts than they supposed.

For three consecutive days, the occupants of the minivan stole more than 250 gallons of diesel. In total, they loaded with the equivalent of more than $6,000 worth of fuel.

The administration of the establishment hired private security after this incident and is waiting for the authorities to release more details.

Know what to do if fuel is stolen or you see someone being robbed

The dramatic increase in the prices of gasoline and diesel fuel, as a result of Russia’s “military operation” in Ukraine, has generated a crisis for both those who have vehicles and those who use transportation services like Uberfor example.

The search for fuel has become a new goal for thieves who, as seen in this case from Houston, are willing to use the most unlikely techniques to get hold of supplies.

The authorities recommend activate motion alarms of cars, as they tend to scare away thieves who try to access the gas tank or break it to extract it.

In case you catch the thief in the middle of the robbery, do not confront him. What you have to do, according to the police, is walk away and call them. They will take charge of intervening with the person, who could be armed.
