More than 1000 corona patients in hospital nursing wards | Inland

This is the fourth increase in a row. It is also the first time in more than two weeks that more than 1000 corona patients are in these departments.

In total, there are now 1,247 corona patients in hospitals, 93 more than the previous day. In the intensive care units, this number increased by 3 to 212 in the past 24 hours.

In the past 24 hours, 138 new corona patients were brought in to the nursing wards, and 11 new admissions were made to the ICs.

Lightning fast spread

The LCPS previously predicted that the number of corona patients in hospitals would increase again this month. This is due to the rapid spread of the omicron variant of the coronavirus. Although this variant is less sickening, more patients can still end up in hospitals because of the high infection numbers. In addition, more people will probably end up in hospital who are admitted for a reason other than Covid, but who test positive for the virus.
