More than 100 passengers evacuated from a ‘ferry’ in Brooklyn

A ferry ran aground on the East River in Brooklyn, forcing dozens of passengers to evacuate.

The incident occurred this Saturday afternoon in Bushwick Inlet, in the Greenpoint neighborhood.

A representative of the Seastreak company assured that the captain asked for power and control of the boat, causing the ferry drift towards the shore.

The ship also began to collect water inside. With 118 passengers and seven crew members were on board.

The Department of Bomoberos reported that a crew member suffered from heat exhaustion. But there were no serious injuries.

The ferry It left the Atlantic Highlands in New Jersey and headed for the East 35th Street Pier in Manhattan.

Authorities are still investigating whether a mechanical failure or electronic control problem caused the power and steering to fail.
