More than 100 infections in French slaughterhouse • Sint Maarten agrees to loan conditions

After Curaçao and Aruba, Sint Maarten has also agreed to the conditions imposed by the Netherlands for a second corona loan. Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs has confirmed this on Sint Maarten on Wednesday afternoon (local time), reports ANP news agency.

The Netherlands already lent money to Sint Maarten, Aruba and Curaçao in April to alleviate the most acute financial distress caused by the corona pandemic. Last Thursday, conditions were explained for a second loan.

In exchange for the aid, Sint Maarten must cut public finances and, among other things, increase the retirement age of civil servants from 62 to 65 in the very short term. The smallest country in the Kingdom will receive a loan of 26.5 million euros.
