Saarbrücken/Trier (dpa/lrs) – In order to put pressure on municipal employers, further work stoppages are planned in Rhineland-Palatinate before the next round of negotiations. According to Verdi, the cities of Dudenhofen, Frankenthal, Kaiserslautern, Landau, Ludwigshafen, Neuhofen, Pirmasens, Speyer, Schifferstadt, Worms, Zweibrücken and the surrounding area will be particularly affected by warning strikes this Thursday.
On Friday, the focus should then be on the Mainz region. Warning strikes are therefore planned in daycare centers in Bad Kreuznach, Ingelheim and in the state capital. In addition, the employees want to take part in a demonstration with a subsequent rally in front of the Ministry of the Environment and Mobility in Mainz together with the bus drivers, who have also been called by Verdi to go on strike in the wage conflict in the private bus industry.
The nationwide wage negotiations are to be continued on May 16th and 17th in Potsdam. The Verdi and GEW unions are calling for improvements in working conditions, measures to counter the shortage of skilled workers and a higher classification of employees. Nationwide, the collective agreement affects around 330,000 people.
