more suspects arrested –

New arrests earlier this week for trafficking ice. Suspected of having imported 2 kilos of methamphetamine in 2019 from the USA, 7 people were brought before the Papeete prosecutor’s office this morning after 4 days in police custody. A wave of arrests in connection with that in 2019 of a dancer from the group All-in one. The families and friends of the defendants are in shock.

Since 8:30 a.m. this Friday morning, 7 defendants arrested between Monday and Tuesday were brought before the investigating judge… before being brought in turn before the prosecution. All are suspected of having imported 2 kilos of ice in 2019.

In the hall of the court, the families of the defendants are devastated. Like this mother who came to support her son. “Misunderstanding and collapse, it’s hard to hear that, because you don’t want to accept this dark side of your child”, she explains. “I can’t say if it’s his dating, all I can say is that for me it’s him, it’s not the others, I only see him at the moment. Whatever he could have done, I do not judge him, that he assumes and accepts, that is the essential”.

The facts date back to April 2019 when a hip hop dancer was intercepted with 74 g at Faa’a airport from the United States and indicted for importing narcotics.

The investigation has made it possible in recent years to identify other people involved in trafficking between the United States and Polynesia. Among them, the leader of a hip hop group, but also a boxing champion and especially Fred Garbutt, already compromised in other ice cases, and nicknamed the “baron” by the traffickers.

What was each person’s role in this case? The trial scheduled for May 5 in immediate appearance should shed light on this case.
