In total, the extreme weather that followed Hurricane “Ida” has cost at least 66 lives in the United States. A two-year-old child is among the dead.
On Friday, the US president draws a clear link between increased incidence of extreme weather and natural disasters, and man-made climate change.
“More superstorms will come, and they will be even more violent,” President Biden of Louisiana said Friday.
He also points out that the disaster should be handled independently of the party.
– This is not about being a Democrat or a Republican. We are Americans, and we will get through this together.
When Biden visited Louisiana, there were still around 823,000 households and businesses without electricity, reports Reuters. By then, more than 200,000 had already received the power back.
In addition, more than 600,000 people have lost access to drinking water. On Saturday, 31 degrees Celsius and high humidity were reported in the state capital Baton Rouge, and correspondingly in Louisiana’s largest city New Orleans.

And Louisiana is just one of the states that has been hit hard and brutally by the relentless weather.
The material damage in the country is estimated to be sky-high overall – and the Senate has decided to deploy a crisis package of one trillion dollars (ie one thousand billion) to repair damage to the infrastructure.
The total price tag on the damage is according to the National Hurricane Center estimated to be around 50 trillion dollars, according to AP.
The storm continued north from Louisiana, killing at least 50 people in the states off the east coast of the United States. according to CNN.
“This is a new world,” said New York Mayor Bill de Blasio. 17 people have died in the state – in the neighboring state of New Jersey alone, several have lost their lives in extreme weather. So far 25 people have been confirmed dead.
The mayor of New York also believes that there is no doubt that climate change plays a role in the frequency of extreme weather in the world. He believes the country needs to respond in new ways.

This includes a separate emergency group that New York has set up. It will find new routines for when and how best to evacuate the streets in advance of such storms.
“We have to be far more aggressive in our use of such tools,” de Blasio told CNN.
