Capcom recently confirmed that it is working on more Remakes for the Resident Evil series, after the great success of Remake Parts Two, Three, and Four and their great reception by players, despite the presence of some criticism of Remake Part Three in particular.
At the PlayStation Partner Awards event in Japan, Resident Evil 4 Remake director Yasuhiro Anpo spoke further about the company’s future plans for the series. When asked if the company would continue to develop Remakes for the series, he replied: “Yes, we have released three Remakes.” They received a wide welcome. “I am pleased to continue this approach as long as the current audience enjoys these classic games in their new form.”
Yasuhiro Anpo believes that developing Remakes is a somewhat safer option than developing a completely new game, as he said: “Developing a completely new game is difficult because you do not know whether players will like it or not, but in the case of the Remake there are already those who played the original game and loved it, which is What we consider to be an advantage we can take advantage of. We are grateful to the players who voice their opinions so that we can benefit from those opinions in developing our games.”
When Mr. Anpo was asked about which part of the series the company wanted to develop a remake for, he replied: “We will announce in the future the next remake in the series, so please stay tuned for that announcement.”
So far, there is no potential information or leak about the upcoming remake of the Resident Evil series, but since the company started with the second part, then the third, and all the way to the fourth, we may see the remake of the fifth part next before the company turns to older parts, such as Code Veronica or even The first Resident Evil.
Capcom is currently preparing to release the massive RPG, Dragon’s Dogma 2, on March 22nd.
