More recycled in fresh concrete – Beton.org

The Concrete Sustainability Council (CSC) has certified 11 Heidelberger Beton plants worldwide for the first time with the new R module version 2.1. The ready-mix concrete division of HeidelbergCement thus creates additional transparency in concrete production.

CSC certification meets growing customer demand for sustainably produced concrete. The new version 2.1 of the R module now also reflects the demand for concrete with increasingly recycled aggregates. The CSC certification is recognized by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) for the assessment of sustainable buildings.

The new version 2.1 of the R module has been expanded to include a “star” system, which rewards the maximum use of recyclates in fresh concrete. All excellent concrete plants in Heidelberg have been certified with “3 stars”. This means that the locations in I am able to supply concrete with a minimum content of 40% recycled material.

“With the aim of obtaining the CSC R-Module version 2.1, Heidelberger Beton wants to promote the circular economy, including the use of recycled aggregates in fresh concrete,” says Dr. Frank Huber, Managing Director of Heidelberger Beton. – Certification module of eleven of our batching plants supports our customers in the design and construction of sustainable buildings.”

The concrete plants in Marzahn, Dettingen, Ingelheim, Aschaffenburg, Fürth, Recklinghausen, Stuttgart-Neckarhafen, Waghäusel, Alzenau, Hainburg and Karlsruhe were awarded 3 stars of module R, version 2.1.
