What’s new on PS5 Pro?
The most important improvements to the PS5 Pro are a more efficient graphics processor, advanced ray tracing and intelligent image scaling, or PSSR, similar to NVIDIA’s DLSS and AMD’s FSR technologies known from computers. The GPU in the new console has 67% more computing units and 28% faster memory, which allows for up to 45% faster game rendering. This means that players will no longer have to choose between performance and better graphics. A better game will not only mean about 30 FPS, and we will not have to pay for 60 or more frames per second with uglier views. In addition, the console’s better guts are to ensure that advanced ray tracing will be present on the Sony console, which – as PCMR believers in particular know – does a great job.

The PS5 Pro will not feature new versions of the DualSense controller or the DualSense Edge model — the set will include the same pad as the standard version of the console. Visually, the “Pro” is very similar to the Slim model, with the difference that there are three stripes on the side panels instead of one. The console does not have a built-in optical drive, but like the Slim, it can be purchased separately.

More space and functions
PS5 Pro will offer 2 TB of storage, a significant improvement over its predecessors (825 GB and 1 TB, respectively), and the Game Boost function will improve the performance of PS5 and PS4 games, with compatibility covering around 8.5 thousand titles. With the new console, players will be able to enjoy more advanced ray tracing, which will significantly affect realistic lighting and shadows in games.
PS5 Pro will support Wi-Fi 7, VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), and 8K resolution, although developers will need to release updates to fully take advantage of these features. The titles that have already been announced to earn the “PS5 Pro Enhanced” badge include:
- Alan Wake 2;
- Assassin’s Creed: Shadows;
- Demon’s Souls;
- Dragon’s Dogma 2;
- Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth;
- Gran Turismo 7;
- Hogwarts Legacy;
- Horizon Forbidden West;
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2;
- Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart;
- The Crew Motorfest;
- The First Descendant;
- The Last of Us Part II Remastered.

When is the release date and how much does the PS5 Pro cost?
The PlayStation 5 Pro will premiere on November 7 this year, and the console will cost 799.99 euros, which translates to around PLN 3,500, although the Polish price has not yet been confirmed. We can therefore assume that in our country we will see the amount of PLN 3,999 on the price lists. Pre-orders start on September 26.
The PS5 Pro is a more powerful, advanced version of the standard console that addresses some of the issues with the current console — which have been there since the launch of the ninth generation. The only question that remains is whether the PS5 Pro shouldn’t have looked like this from the start?
