This year, outpatient hospice services in Thuringia, which provide voluntary care for terminally ill patients, are receiving more money from statutory health insurance companies. A total of around 4.5 million euros was paid out to the 31 hospice services, according to IKK classic. This is around 650,000 euros more than last year.

There are 31 hospice services in Thuringia that support terminally ill people and their families, talk to them about their fears, pain and despair and try to comfort them. The money from the health insurance companies is used for training staff, but also for renting rooms, office supplies and material costs. Last year, 1,739 qualified volunteers supported 2,145 dying people in the last phase of their lives.
