On December 12th, the new Deutsche Bahn timetable comes into effect. The travel times between metropolises are shortening and there are new connections.
Halle (Saale) also benefits from this. For example, there is a new ICE sprinter in the evening between Munich and Berlin, which only has intermediate stops in Nuremberg, Erfurt and Halle and is therefore particularly fast. Monday to Saturday another normal ICE runs between Berlin, Munich and Hamburg in the morning, which also stops in Halle. The IC from Leipzig to Warnemünde via Halle will run all year round in the future. Also new on Friday evening are an IC from Cologne and Hanover and an IC to Hanover.
Information and tickets for the new timetable will be available from October 13th on bahn.de, in the DB Navigator, in DB travel centers and DB agencies as well as at DB machines.
DB long-distance transport manager Michael Peterson: “Our new super-fast Sprinters make traveling by train even more attractive. Climate protection has seldom been so easy and pleasant. With shorter travel times from city center to city center, DB will set new standards from December. And after the successful start between Warnemünde and Dresden, we are now also adding a new long-distance line to the west. We want even more railways in the area of Germany. “
More sprinters between Berlin and Munich via Erfurt and Halle (Saale)
In the evening there is a sixth ICE train pair with an intermediate stop only in Nuremberg, Erfurt and Halle. These trains only need 2 ¼ hours between Erfurt and Munich. For example, travelers at 9.47 p.m. from Erfurt to Munich and those returning to Erfurt and Halle with departure around 8 p.m. in Munich benefit from this acceleration.
For Lutherstadt Wittenberg and Bitterfeld some more attractive ICE trips
At 7.26 p.m. an ICE continues to run from Berlin via Bitterfeld to Leipzig, Erfurt to Nuremberg (with a connection to Munich). This ICE can now also stop in Lutherstadt Wittenberg, which closes a previous supply gap.
Early in the morning from Monday to Saturday there is an additional ICE trip from Munich, Augsburg, Nuremberg and Bamberg to Erfurt (8.24 a.m.), Halle (9.04 a.m.), Bitterfeld (9.24 a.m.), Berlin (10.25 a.m.) and Hamburg. On Sundays this ICE stops in Lutherstadt Wittenberg and Leipzig (instead of Halle and Bitterfeld).
Dresden – Berlin now with individual ICE trips and additional evening connections
In the future, the DB will offer a fast direct connection from Berlin to Dresden (9:07 p.m.) from Monday to Saturday, also in the attractive time slot at 7.16 p.m. Comfortable ICE trains are used. The late connection after 9 p.m. from Berlin to Dresden is then only being planned – also with ICE – on the busy weekdays Friday and Sunday. The two-hour IC line from Rostock continues daily at 8.26 p.m. from Berlin to Dresden (10:35 p.m.). An ICE will also be used instead of the previous IC on the 6.54am journey from Dresden to Berlin and Hamburg.
There are also individual offer improvements from Leipzig
The new late connection at 9:33 p.m. to Frankfurt am Main replaces a 40-minute earlier connection with a short change in Erfurt. In the future, the first IC from Leipzig to Dresden will leave in a more attractive time slot (around 30 minutes later) at 6.30 a.m. to Dresden (7.35 a.m.).
The IC train pair offered once a day in the Saale Valley from Leipzig via Jena, Kronach, Lichtenfels, Bamberg, Nuremberg, Stuttgart to Karlsruhe will be postponed: in future it will travel from Leipzig to Baden-Württemberg in the morning and back in the evening.
All year round from Leipzig, Halle (Saale), Köthen, Magdeburg and Stendal to Rostock and back
The tourist IC train pair Leipzig – Halle – Köthen – Magdeburg – Stendal – Ludwigslust – Schwerin – Rostock – Warnemünde goes to the coast in the morning and back in the afternoon, now runs daily all year round instead of the previous summer and weekends.
On Fridays, an IC from Cologne, Hanover, Braunschweig now runs in the evenings via Magdeburg (10 p.m.) to Köthen, Halle (Saale) and Leipzig. Also in the opposite direction there is now an IC to Hanover on Friday evenings at 7.42 p.m. from Leipzig.
Construction work between Leipzig and Dresden affects the timetable
Due to construction, temporary adjustments to the services between Leipzig and Dresden are also required in the 2022 timetable. The travel times are usually extended by around 10 minutes, sometimes up to 40 minutes, all year round. As in the previous timetable, a pair of IC trains that run at noon cannot run from Monday to Saturday.
