With the timetable change in mid-December, Deutsche Bahn wants to expand its long-distance transport offer in Saxony-Anhalt. The company announced this at the request of MDR SACHSEN-ANHALT. In the future, Halle will be connected to Munich and Berlin with six instead of five fast ICE sprinter trains every day. There are only intermediate stops in Erfurt and Nuremberg. For Berlin commuters, an additional ICE runs to the federal capital from 9 a.m. on weekdays.

In addition, according to the new timetable, the Baltic Sea connection between Rostock-Stendal-Magdeburg and Halle will be expanded to include a daily offer. So far, this train has only been available in midsummer or on weekends. In the future, there will be a daily train going to the Baltic Sea in the morning and back to Saxony-Anhalt in the afternoon.

Dessau is getting an ICE again
Bitterfeld and Lutherstadt Wittenberg should benefit from further ICE stops. From mid-December onwards, after 8 p.m., you can go to Erfurt and Nuremberg, with a connection to Munich. On Sundays after 9 a.m., Lutherstadt receives another ICE connection to Berlin and Hamburg.
–
And Dessau can also be happy: after a year break, the Bauhaus city is back on the ICE network, but with only one train a week: Every Friday afternoon one of the white express trains from Hanover and Magdeburg will arrive – and continue to Leipzig.

Restrictions in Magdeburg from autumn 2022
As far as the state capital’s ICE connection is concerned, the offer remains clear. There will also be restrictions on the Magdeburg-Hanover route from autumn 2022. Because of construction work, IC trains will only run there every two hours and will be diverted via Stendal.

The annual timetable change for all EU countries always takes place on the second weekend in December, in the night from Saturday to Sunday. Tickets for journeys from December 12th can be booked from October 13th, according to Deutsche Bahn.

Higher prices for ICE and regional transport with timetable change
According to Deutsche Bahn, super saver fare and saver fare tickets remain excluded from the price increase.
