More FVD celebrities critical of Baudet, senator writes urgent letter | NOW

More representatives of the Forum for Democracy (FVD) are critical of Thierry Baudet’s actions. Several FVD celebrities rally behind the party’s board. Senate member Nicki Pouw-Verweij says according to The Telegraph to fear that Baudet has radicalized and believes in corona plot theories.

“Unheard of”, Senator Toine Beukering writes Twitter about Baudet’s behavior. “FVD has become a large, adult party in which he no longer determines it alone. Hijacking a party against the statutes is more than inappropriate. Accept cancellation!”

Beukering is supported by candidate Member of Parliament Nicki Pouw-Verweij, who op Twitter let it be known to stand behind the board. According to The Telegraph Pouw-Verweij has also written an urgent letter to the board. “I have the feeling that Thierry has recently become radicalized and conspiracy theories have started,” she writes, according to the newspaper.

“At one point Thierry shouted that corona had been brought into the world by George Soros and others to take away our freedom and start a new world domination. He shouted that Hillary Clinton ‘and the pedophiles’ hadn’t worked out, but that it would now work via corona. “

Baudet was a guest on the television program BEAU on Wednesday evening when De Telegraaf published the news of the urgent letter. He had not yet read the article, but responded briefly: “I have not made any anti-Semitic statements, I have no anti-Semitic thoughts, nor am I a racist.”

Baudet came under fire last week because, according to party members, he did too little to tackle expressions of anti-Semitism in the party’s youth movement. He retired as political leader and chairman earlier this week. But he reversed that decision on Wednesday by announcing a top candidate election and putting himself forward. He is also alleged to have taken over social media accounts from the party.

Brussels FVD members also support party government

The group of FVD in the European Parliament also supports the party leadership. Baudet’s actions “show little professionalism, integrity and reliability”, write MEPs in a statement.

The group states that “clear agreements” had been made. Baudet would step down as chairman and political leader. In order to keep him in the party, “a switch” would have been proposed to release a seat in the European Parliament for him.

Baudet’s plan for a top candidate election would be contrary to the statutes, according to the Brussels FVD members. Moreover, it would not be possible to check whether such an election is fair. They also denounce Baudet’s “hijacking” of FVD’s social media accounts.

On Tuesday, Member of Parliament Theo Hiddema and Senator Paul Cliteur announced their immediate withdrawal from the party. Party prominent and senator Annabel Nanninga claims in a letter sent ThePostOnline that Baudet also disappears from the polling list.
