More funding for energetic renovation

Another 5.7 billion euros will be available by the end of the year, making it 11.5 billion euros for the year as a whole.

The BEG bundles the investment support programs for the energetic renovation of buildings. The aim is to create stronger incentives for investments in energy efficiency and renewable energies. Funding is available as both grants and loans.

Three sub-programs

The BEG consists of three sub-programs. Measures that bring a building up to an overall efficiency house standard fall under the residential buildings (BEG WG) and non-residential buildings (BEG NWG) sub-programs. With measures from the individual measures sub-program (BEG EM), this standard does not have to be achieved for the entire building. The BEG EM supports in detail:

  • Measures on the building envelope, such as insulation of external walls and roof surfaces, renewal, replacement or initial installation of doors, gates and windows, with 20% of the eligible costs,
  • Plant engineering, such as installation, replacement or optimization of ventilation and air conditioning systems, with 20%,
  • Renewable energies for heating, such as heat pumps, biomass or solar thermal systems, with 20 to 45%,
  • Connection to a renewable heating network with 30 to 45%,
  • Measures for heating optimization, such as hydraulic balancing, replacement of heating pumps, etc., with 20%,
  • Specialist planning and construction supervision with 50%,
  • necessary environmental measures, up to and including the expansion and disposal of an old heating system.

The maximum amount of the eligible costs in the BEG EM sub-program for residential buildings that are at least five years old is € 60,000 per residential unit (gross, including VAT or net with possible input tax deduction). Grants can be obtained from the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA) be requested. The loan variant is provided by the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) implemented in cooperation with the house banks. Important: The funds must be requested before the start of the measures.

More comments:

Anyone who installs a new wood heating system will have to install a chimney in the future that protrudes over the roof ridge by at least 40 cm. The aim is to reduce the pollution of the air in the immediate vicinity.
