After there was no play in the Bundesliga last weekend, the ball is rolling again on Friday evening (8.30 p.m.). The game between Hertha BSC and VfL Bochum opens the 21st matchday. Nationwide, more spectators will then be allowed into the stadiums again – at least in theory. The course for this was set by the decision of the State and Senate Chancellery on Wednesday, which states that up to 10,000 fans will be allowed again in the future with a maximum occupancy rate of 50 percent at major events.

However, the implementation for the weekend is not the same in all Bundesliga stadiums. The reason is the adaptation of the Corona Protection Ordinance, which has to be carried out in the respective federal states. In Berlin, the changes will not be discussed until next week. That’s why only 3,000 fans are allowed in the Olympic Stadium on Friday evening against Bochum. “This can only be the beginning, it has to go much, much faster,” said Hertha manager Fredi Bobic and hopes that politicians will act quickly.

Just like in Baden-Württemberg, which decided on Thursday to increase capacity to 10,000 at the weekend. Lower Saxony, on the other hand, remains strict – and initially with a limit of 500 people. “I can’t understand it all anymore,” said Hanover’s professional football boss Martin Kind from second division 96. “People lose faith in the rules when they are so inconsistent.”
The clubs in North Rhine-Westphalia are better off, where 1. FC Köln, Borussia Dortmund and Arminia Bielefeld had already taken legal action against the restrictions and the decision was immediately amended in the state’s Corona Protection Ordinance. The clubs are now allowed to play their home games in front of 10,000 fans.
